How it works
Move text and files without a middleman
Most share tools ask you to upload a file to a server, wait, then hand someone a download link to a copy sitting in someone else's storage. This tool skips that step twice over. By link, your text is compressed straight into the address of a page - there is no upload because there is no server copy. Direct mode goes a step further for files: your two devices talk to each other over the same wifi network, and the file moves from one to the other without ever passing through us.
Both modes are free, need no account, and work the moment you open the page. Pick By link for short text you want to send anywhere in seconds. Pick Direct when you are moving a real file, a photo, a document, a video, between two devices sitting in the same room.
Nothing ever uploaded, by link
Link-mode text lives entirely after the # in the URL, the part your browser never sends to a server. There is nothing to intercept because there is nowhere for it to go.
Direct device-to-device over your wifi

6-character pairing code
Type a short code on the receiving device to pair the two browsers. Codes use only unambiguous letters and digits, so there is nothing to misread.
Checksum-verified delivery
Every direct transfer is hashed before it is sent and checked again on arrival, so you know the file that lands is exactly the file that left.
How the two modes work
By link is the simplest option and works anywhere with a browser. Type or paste your text, and the tool compresses it and tucks it into the link itself, after the # character that browsers keep to themselves. Share that link or its QR code however you like, text message, email, or in person, and the receiving device decodes the text the moment the page opens. Because the text never leaves the URL bar, there is no upload step and no server copy to worry about.
Direct mode is for bigger files and works when both devices are on the same wifi. On the sending device, choose a file, or switch to sending text instead, and tap Get a code. On the receiving device, type that six-character code and tap Join. The two browsers then negotiate a direct connection through a small pairing service that only ever sees enough information to introduce them, never the file itself, and the connection between the two browsers is encrypted in transit. Once connected, the file streams straight from one device to the other with a live progress bar, and its checksum is verified on arrival so you know nothing was corrupted along the way. If a network blocks the direct connection, some office and hotel wifi does this on purpose, switch back to the By link tab instead.
Common questions
Do my files get uploaded?
By-link text travels inside the link itself and never reaches a server. Direct mode moves a file straight between your two devices; our small pairing service only introduces the two browsers to each other and sees connection metadata, never file names or contents.
Does it work away from home?
Usually, yes, but some office and hotel wifi networks block device-to-device connections on purpose. If a direct connection cannot form, switch to the By link tab, which always works because nothing needs to connect directly.
Is there a size limit?
By link, you are sharing a few kilobytes of text through the address bar, so keep it to a paragraph or two. Direct mode can move a single file up to 500 MB in this first version.
Does anything get stored?
Pairing codes for direct transfers self-delete after ten minutes, or the moment they are used, whichever comes first. Nothing about the shared text or file is ever written to a database.
